MUTSU

Taking steps in new directions is essential for brands to stay relevant. We’d like to introduce you to MUTSU, a new venture by our client, Colombia Craft Brewing Company, aimed at reaching new audiences by entering the cider market—a beverage with significant potential that remains underdeveloped in Colombia.

 

Colombia Craft Brewing Company is a local brewery founded by an Australian who has made Colombia his home and recognized an opportunity in the country's market for cider. Unlike hard seltzer, which has gained popularity in recent years, cider offers a more robust and distinctive flavor while being a healthier option with fewer calories. He believes that the variety of tropical fruits found in Colombia could inspire a unique range of flavors that would not only appeal to local consumers but also position the country as a regional producer and exporter of cider.

 

For the logo design, we chose a slender, lightweight typeface to create versatile letters that could adapt to different surfaces and sizes. The brand’s icon is an owl, with a head resembling an apple—the key ingredient in cider. This element is intended to connect with its sister brewery, whose icon features a macaw with a hop-shaped tail, thus establishing a cohesive brand architecture. Additionally, we explored the use of a transparent label that would allow the natural color of the can to shine through, creating a distinctive visual impact and a unique presence on the shelves.
